Project SHARE

Project S.H.A.R.E., which operates out of 5 N. Orange St. No. 4, Carlisle, serves Carlisle, Mt. Holly Springs, Boiling Springs, Plainfield, Gardners, Carlisle Springs, and surrounding areas. It provides supplemental food distribution the third Thursday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon, and the following Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. to individuals and families who meet income requirements. Dickinson supports this local foodbank by donating up approximately 150 cans of tuna each month, and also by volunteering their time, in the warmer months, to glean local farms for fresh produce.

Dickinson Presbyterian Church supports Project S.H.A.R.E by with monthly contributions of canned tuna for distribution via the community food bank. Also, DPC participates in gleaning projects sponsored by Project S.H.A.R.E in the summer and fall. Volunteers harvest produce from local farmer’s fields for use by those in need in the community.

Safe Harbour

This long-term shelter is at the former James Wilson Hotel at 102 W. High St. in Carlisle. It provides housing and self-enhancement programs for homeless and potentially homeless single adults and families. Volunteers are needed to provide short-term child care, to transport residents to appointments and to supervise the children’s playroom in the evening. Safe Harbour also seeks volunteers to serve as resident mentors to assist clients as needed and develop a relationship of support.

Dickinson Presbyterian Church makes a quarterly monetary donation to Safe HARBOUR. To volunteer or to make a donation, call 717-249-2200.
